His uncertainty of how he’ll be able to save his kingdom, and learn to be a better king than his father, and his connection to Britta leaves him with so many unknowns about the future.Įrin did a wonderful job in blending the multiple POV’s together even though they were separated at times throughout the book. His connection to Britta makes this story have a bit of a love triangle feel to it and at times you ship them and others you don’t.

He will do anything to protect those he loves and if that means letting some of them go he is willing to make the sacrifice.Īodren is probably the most unique character in this series so I’m so excited to learn more about him in Once A King out later this year. Cohen’s loyalty to Britta and the new king is what defines his character for me. When he finds out Britta is in danger back in Malim he sets off immediately, bringing with him a girl who may be able to help Britta understand her new channeler abilities. She’s going to have to make some hard decisions.Ĭohen is on his own path to helping the kingdom and comes across a girl who he finds out has a very strong connection to the channelers and he will have to prove to them that he is an ally and not someone who will expose their society. These two things open her eyes to so many more possibilities. In this book her channeler magic has connected her to the king and is introduced to someone she thought she’d never see. She may end up in dangerous situations but she always seems to find her way out of it. When she’s told to stay behind she makes it known that she will not be treated like a child or a woman who can’t take care of herself. She is so funny and lighthearted and I felt like she put more of that in this second book.īritta’s character is the epitome of a tough no nonsense girl who isn’t afraid to speak her mind. I am so lucky to live in the same area as Erin Summerill and have had the pleasure of getting to know her.

YA Fantasy is one of my favorite genre’s to read and this one has all the elements plus a bit of sass which I love. The stakes are higher than ever in the sequel to Ever the Hunted, as Britta struggles to protect her kingdom and her heart. If Britta cannot find a way to harness her new magical ability, her life-as well as her country-may be lost. And there are those who want to use Britta’s power for evil designs.
Unfortunately, saving the King has created a tether between them she cannot sever, no matter how much she’d like to, and now he’s insisting on making her a noble lady.
